An ingrown toenail is a condition in which a nail grows on one side of the toe underneath the skin. There are many factors which can cause the condition, which is usually resolved surgically. However, there is a way you can treat the problem at home without any surgical procedure!
How to remove an ingrown toenail without surgery
First, prepare a hot bath by pouring 3 tablespoons of baking soda and some Himalayan salt in 5 l. of water – the temperature shouldn’t go above 37C. Now, soak your feet in the bath in order to soften your skin, then pat them dry and apply an antibacterial iodine cream on the affected area. Afterwards, apply a small amount of cotton between the nail and skin, then put an adhesive bandage over the nail and change the cotton every 24 hours. Repeat the procedure for 15 days and the problem should be resolved.
If you cannot put the cotton between the nail and skin, mix a tablespoon of raw honey and 1 garlic clove or some Aloe Vera gel and apply it on the affected area to soften the skin and make the spot more accessible. Softening the skin on the affected toenail is the most important part of the procedure. When you’re finished and the nail is exposed, cut the excess part.
